MedStar Health Provider Concierge Program

A career in medicine can be stressful and overwhelming at times. This program provides a dedicated concierge to help connect you to the right resources at the right time.

Professional Expense Reimbursement

Up to $4,000 reimbursed annually for professional expenses, including CME, books/software, dues to one professional society, reimbursement for state licenses, CDS, DEA, and board certification/recertification.**

Childcare and Eldercare Services

Childcare: Unlimited access to the largest online community, Care.com. Convenient digital platform, available anytime, anywhere with preliminary screen conducted by Care.com. Premium members can view full profiles and reviews, contact caregivers, and purchase background checks.

Backup care: Subsidized, vetted in-home care for children and adults, as well as in-center childcare, is available on short notice. Care selection is personalized based on your specific needs.

Senior care: Advisors take a proactive, personalized, human approach to senior care planning based on associates’ specific family needs. For example, advisors can identify, match, and vet third-party organizations that provide senior care providers. They can also offer local referrals and education, information on how to pay for senior care (e.g., Medicare/Medicaid), and help with relocating a family member.

Confidential Counseling

Confidential counseling services covering a range of issues—including depression, anxiety, life changes, and more—are provided by an EAP care coordinator, who serves as your personal point of contact, confidentially assesses your problems, assists with emergencies, and connects you to appropriate resources. Up to five free sessions are available to you and your household members per year. If longer counseling is needed, BHS will help coordinate obtaining care through your medical carrier.

Financial Services

Get unlimited telephone counseling and information covering such common financial issues as managing debt, funding college, and tax planning and preparation. For complex issues, you can connect with personal advisors and community resources at discounted rates.

Legal Services

Get legal advice and support via telephone on such issues as domestic and business matters, landlord and tenant disputes, IRS issues, real estate, and more. Local, prescreened, credentialed attorneys are also available at discounted rates.

Life coaching

Unlimited well-being coaching by phone: Coaching addresses all elements of well-being, including physical, emotional, career, social, and financial. Coaching services can be used as a tool for goal setting and optimizing well-being. These sessions are completely confidential, and coaches are trained to provide feedback customized to each person’s specific needs.

Video counseling services: Take advantage of face-to-face sessions with a licensed clinician, while staying in the comfort of your home or office. All you need is a computer, smartphone or tablet, webcam, and Internet access. To get started, schedule a convenient time that works for you.

Wealth Management

As a key member of our professional team, you are eligible to participate in our complimentary wealth management program. Personalized services provided by our Merrill Lynch partners include risk analysis, estate and tax planning, concierge banking and mortgage services, asset protection, and much more as part of our BankatWork program through Bank of America.

MedStar Health Retirement Savings Plan 403(b)

The MedStar Health 403(b) plan is a tax-deferred savings account that offers professionally managed investment options and a 50% match of investments, up to 6% of earnings. You are 100% vested in your personal contributions from day one. After three years, you are fully vested in MedStar Health’s matching contribution.

MedStar Health Deferred Compensation Savings Plan 457(b)

The MedStar Health 457(b) plan provides an additional way to save for retirement with the potential for tax savings and earnings growth. Plan participation does not require reducing contributions to your 403(b), and your contributions and any earnings are not taxed until you receive them.

MedStar Health Physician Deferred Compensation Savings Plan 457(f)

The MedStar Health physician 457(f) deferred compensation savings plan provides eligible physicians with the opportunity for additional tax savings and earnings growth.

  • Defer up to 5% of your annual base salary. Contributions are withheld pre-tax.
  • MedStar Health provides an annual contribution credit of 25.1% of your contributions.
  • You decide how your contributions are invested.
  • Any earnings accumulated on contributions are not taxed until you receive them.
  • Your contributions and MedStar Health’s contribution credit are subject to a 3-year vesting.

Research

The MedStar Health Research Institute provides MedStar Medical Group members with scientific, administrative, and regulatory support for research programs that complement key clinical services in all nine hospitals in the MedStar Health system.

Teaching

You can also join MedStar Health’s 1,600-provider teaching faculty sharing best practices and mentoring rising generations of MedStar Health medical professionals.

UpToDate Anywhere

UpToDate Anywhere is a powerful online, evidence-based clinical decision support resource available on your computer and mobile devices. After activation, UpToDate Anywhere provides you with personal point-of-care decision support 24/7. It also records CME credit for researching clinical questions, even when doing so on a mobile device. Coming soon: access to UpToDate Anywhere data via EHR.

We are honored to have our Clinical Practice Councils providing a voice for MedStar Health clinicians with respect to how they practice medicine. Our councils are organized by specialty with a charter to guide the professional practice of medicine and create consistent models of care. They focus their attention on information management, including optimization of the Cerner electronic medical record; quality and safety; clinical practice guidelines to reduce variation and enhance outcomes; operational efficiency; value analysis of medical and surgical equipment and supplies; and advancing our care delivery model.

Our aim is to involve clinicians, and the teams who work with them, in the meaningful development of how we consistently, effectively, and seamlessly deliver care across our Distributed Care Delivery Network. This is unique in that it is an integrated matrix of feedback and action involving each of you. Our mission together will be to demonstrate the tremendous value a seamless, connected medical group can have on our system and on our patients.
