MedStar Medical Group offers a rewarding career with a unique patient population in the heart of Washington, D.C. Become part of an organization that welcomes your experience, input, and leadership—as a clinician and healthcare expert.

We are looking for an acute care nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join our MHVI: Pulmonary Hypertension team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

Pulmonary hypertension is a unique disease process that requires the prompt evaluation, expert multi-disciplinary care, and regular follow-up our specialists provide. Our team works with patients to develop a treatment plan to lessen symptoms, improve their quality of life and help them live longer. Our Pulmonary Hypertension program also partners with the National Institutes of Health to provide access to advanced testing and clinical trials for this condition not available anywhere else.

In this role, the PA/ACNP will work closely with the Regional Director of Pulmonary Hypertension to provide "traditional medicine" type continuity of care for our Pulmonary Hypertension patients, both inpatient and outpatient. This provider will predominantly be working in the outpatient clinic and work alongside the Pulmonary Hypertension Nurse Navigator to be the point of contact for our patient cohort and coordinate care for new referrals as well as established patients. As a key member of the Pulmonary Hypertension team within the Advanced Heart Failure program, they would work to grow the program regionally and towards Pulmonary Hypertension Association Certification.

The ideal candidate will have experience specific to cardiac care, but we are willing to consider a new grad. The work schedule will be 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with no weekends or holidays. Schedule is flexible.

Only acute care nurse practitioners and physician assistants will be considered for the role. We cannot accept family nurse practitioners.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education/Training: Graduate from an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program.
  • Experience: The ideal candidate will have experience specific to cardiac care, but we are willing to consider a new grad.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred.

As a MedStar Medical Group clinician, you can expect:
