Acute Pain Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Opportunity - D.C./Southern Maryland Region

D.C./Southern Maryland Region

MedStar Medical Group Anesthesiology seeks a nurse practitioner (NP) for the Acute Pain Service (APS). The NP will work in the D.C./Southern Maryland region with available opportunities at the following D.C. and Southern Maryland region hospitals:
  • MedStar Georgetown University Hospital
  • MedStar Washington Hospital Center
  • MedStar St. Mary's Hospital
  • MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center

The NP acts as a consultant in collaboration with anesthesia team members, surgeons, and medical staff to manage patients with acute and chronic pain in the inpatient setting. In this role, the NP is responsible for conducting patient assessments, performing perioperative evaluations, prescribing appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities, managing epidural and peripheral nerve catheters, and rounding daily on new and established patients. Additionally, the NP will obtain H&Ps, review diagnostic test results, formulate plans, write progress notes, and provide education to patients/families. The NP will also provide education, collaborate with other healthcare team members regarding pain protocols, and act as an expert pain resource for the institution.
