Position Summary:

We are seeking a full-time, call-taking, high-quality Anesthesiologist to join MedStar Medical Group Anesthesiology (MMGA) at our MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) in Washington, D.C. MWHC is a tertiary referral, 900-bed, level I trauma center serving our nation’s capital and greater metropolitan region. The department consists of 50 MDs and 120 anesthetists.

Our care team model, including CAAs, CRNAs, residents, and SRNAs, is highly collaborative and benefits from working with diverse surgical teams that are truly both highly skilled and collegial. Case mix includes general, neuro, thoracic, vascular, orthopaedics, ENT, reconstructive plastics, trauma, oral, gyn, burn, OB, electrophysiology, GI, and interventional radiology.

MMGA highly values a balance between strong work ethic and quality of life. Typical days start at 7am with relief time ranging from early afternoon to early evening, depending on prior day relief.  There are four call MDs daily with the three overnight positions starting at 3:30pm. All have the following day off.  Call is roughly 5 times/month.

MWHC is located in the heart of our nation’s capital, less than 3 miles from the U.S. Capitol building. Washington, D.C., is a vibrant cosmopolitan city that plays host to 5 professional sports teams, exceptional dining and theater opportunities, and free world-class museums and is served by 3 airports. It is close to beaches and national parks and is at the southern end of the Amtrak Northeast Corridor train line, serving Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York, and Boston.
