Position Summary:

Full-Time Associate Medical Director

MedStar Health Urgent Care is looking for experienced leader with the following qualifications:
  • Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine/Pediatrics (double boarded), or Emergency Medicine.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Family Medicine, Internal Medicine/Pediatrics (double boarded), or Emergency Medicine experience.
  • Previous leadership/director positions.
 
Physician shall dedicate approximately seventy percent (70%) of their time in this Associate Medical Director role. In this role, Physician shall report to the Medical Director of MedStar Urgent Care. Physician duties include handling and overseeing administrative, managerial and leadership tasks for the MedStar Urgent Care, including, but not limited to, as follows:
 
  • Oversees the deployment of an effective Quality and Safety program for urgent care and coordinates efforts with the MedStar AVP of Quality and Safety on a routine basis.
  • Responsible for medical oversight in collaboration with the Medical Director of all aspects of all urgent care clinical operations including all necessary policy and procedures, annual provider review/contract renewal process, and any relevant third party accreditations.
  • Attends necessary urgent care management team meetings, as requested by Medical Director.
  • Chairs quarterly urgent care provider meetings as well as routine urgent care medical staff meeting/committees, as requested by Medical Director.
  • Represents urgent care at appropriate MedStar Medical Group clinical meetings, as requested by Medical Director.
  • Assists in the development and deployment of annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Assists in the recruitment of providers to support the operationalization of all new urgent care care sites.
  • Oversees the development and deployment of a provider coding and compliance process.
  • Assists in the administration of all quality assurance, utilization review, customer service, and risk management activities relating to the urgent care providers.
  • In conjunction with the AVP of Patient and Associate Engagement, assists in the dissemination and action planning for routine patient and physician satisfaction surveys.
  • Assists in the development of new programs to support the growth of urgent care.
  • Oversees the interviewing, approval and hiring and ongoing employment of physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants as needed.
  • Oversees the staffing assignments of all urgent care providers to the various care sites.
  • In coordination with the Medical Director, manages physician disciplinary issues, including notice and cure of material deficiencies and terminations.
 
We are looking for providers to manage acute walk-in urgent cases and minor procedures. Procedures include, but are not limited to, suturing, fracture care/splinting, I&Ds, interpreting EKGs, and wet reading X-rays (all films are read by a radiologist). We have an on-site, low-complexity lab for point of care testing, most sites have a full x-ray suite and amazing support staff. We are open 12 hours daily and shift lengths may vary.
