Position Summary:

The MedStar Health Heart & Vascular Institute (MHVI) at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is actively recruiting board-certified/eligible clinical cardiologists for faculty positions. Successful candidates will be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, internal medicine residents, and cardiology fellows in a busy, academic mid-Atlantic practice.

The MedStar Health Heart & Vascular Institute Section of Clinical Cardiology is a vibrant team that serves as the cardiology faculty across two major institutions in the nation's capital. The physicians we seek will be based at one or both centers and will have a faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine at the Georgetown University School of Medicine at an academic rank commensurate with experience.

MedStar Health is the largest healthcare provider in the mid-Atlantic region with centers throughout the D.C. and Maryland area. Two major hospitals serve as the hubs of cardiac care in Washington, D.C. The MedStar Washington Hospital Center is a large tertiary care center that is the primary location for advanced cardiac care for the system. MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is an academic hospital on the campus of Georgetown University and is a center of excellence for oncological care, specialty surgery, and solid organ transplant, in addition to providing cardiac care combined with a large outpatient practice.

We are seeking candidates with interests and experience across the breadth of clinical cardiology with an emphasis on specialized expertise. The precise parameters of the position are flexible and will be fitted to the applicant's experience. Opportunities include ambulatory and inpatient cardiology (ward service, consultations, CVICU), as well as leadership within specialized clinical programs:
  • Echocardiography (structural competency strongly preferred)
  • Specialized cardiac care such as cardio-oncology, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, advanced coronary disease, pulmonary hypertension, aortic disease, and prevention
  • Cardiac CT
  • Cardiac MRI
