We are looking for a nurse practitioner or physician assistant to function independently as a Diabetes Management/Education provider within our established Clinical Endocrinology/Diabetes department at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Our exceptional team of Endocrinologists and advanced practice providers has vast experience with managing patients who are living with diabetes. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we partner with colleagues from disciplines including registered dietitians, behavioral health, podiatry, wound care, and social workers to develop highly individualized care plans that treat the whole patient. This approach provides patients with high-quality care that is unmatched in our service area.

The advanced practice provider in this role will predominately work inpatient at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, assessing, diagnosing, treating, and educating inpatients who are newly diagnosed or already living with diabetes.  The daily list will be divided between our newly hired APP and existing APP with easy access to the rest of our team when questions arise. This position will not include general endocrinology consults. A minimum of one day per week, the hired APP will have their own outpatient diabetes clinic seeing patients for follow-up visits. Candidates with direct inpatient experience as an advanced practice provider are encouraged to apply.

The schedule for this role will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, excluding holidays or weekends. Hired providers will carry a pager during work hours only. No after-hours, evening, or weekend call requirements. Diabetes management/education experience preferred. New grads are welcome to apply. CDE and/or insulin pump experience a plus, but not required. The ideal candidate will have a great work ethic and be able to work autonomously and without much supervision.
