Position Summary:

MedStar Health offers a uniquely rewarding career in a major marketplace. Shape your future in health care in the kind of setting that’s right for you and your practice. Become part of an organization that welcomes your experience, input and leadership—as a clinician and healthcare expert.

The MedStar Health Department of Surgery in Baltimore, Maryland seeks a fellowship-trained thoracic surgeon to join our existing practice at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center (MFSMC). The ideal candidate will have at least three years of post-fellowship clinical experience covering the expanse of general thoracic surgery, including both lung and esophageal diseases as well as open, minimally invasive, and endoscopic/bronchoscopic approaches. The candidate also must demonstrate maturity, collaboration, outstanding clinical skills, and a passion to grow a thriving practice in a large community hospital.

The surgeon will be a member of the MedStar Baltimore Department of Surgery, which spans four hospitals in the Baltimore region. The Department has a long-standing surgery residency program based at MFSMC and graduating three Chief residents per year. The thoracic clinic is housed within the Angelos Center for Lung Diseases, part of the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Cancer Institute located across the street from the main hospital.  Two busy and talented interventional pulmonologists currently staff the Center. Full radiology capabilities are available on-site, including interventional radiology. The hospital is in a suburban section of Baltimore with easy access to downtown and the surrounding amenities.

The position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary setting with a dynamic group of physicians specializing in thoracic diseases as part of a regional program. The physicians within the Lung Center work collaboratively with their colleagues in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Radiology, Pathology, Pulmonology and Gastroenterology, as well as with a team of social workers, nurse navigators and nurse practitioners.

As a MedStar Health clinician, you can expect:

  • A very competitive salary plus productivity bonus
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid malpractice insurance
  • Generous paid time off
  • CME leave and CME allowance
  • Retirement plan – 403-B with % employer match
