Hospital Geriatrics -  Faculty Physician, Washington, D.C.

Join us at MedStar Total Elder Care (MTEC) at Washington Hospital Center in D.C. You can work with MedStar Health, the largest provider in the mid-Atlantic, recognized regionally and nationally for excellence in medical care. Our mission is to enhance the lives of ill elders and families, using interdisciplinary teams in home-based primary care and a robust hospital geriatrics service.

We seek a motivated physician (board-certified in FP or IM, and Geriatrics preferred) to lead our geriatrics inpatient service. The hospital service includes rounding on our own house call patients, leading an orthogeriatrics service and teaching fellows, residents and students.  You would be a core member of the Geriatrics team, attend our team meetings and ensure quality of our patients’ transitions in and out of the hospital.

You can create new programs, receive robust practice management support and be eligible for a Georgetown faculty appointment, based on academic criteria.

You can be part of a great team that serves as a national model of elder care. We participate in a national Medicare demonstration project, Independence at Home (IAH), and a Maryland pilot program to improve outcomes for high-need and high-cost elders.

Your role will include:
  • Attending physician on inpatient geriatrics service for Monday-Friday
  • Rotation with other physicians for hospital duty and phone on-call (Q4-6 weeks)
  • Teaching of fellows, internal medicine residents and medical students  
  • Working with a superb team of geriatricians, NPs, social workers, and coordinators
  • Leadership roles as medical director, fellowship director or clinical research
