Position Summary:
MedStar Medical Group II LLC d/b/a MedStar Medical Group is seeking a hospitalist for employment at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
Duties:
As a hospitalist, provide internal medicine care to patients admitted to the non-teaching service by performing physical exams, ordering tests, diagnosing, and treating patients and by performing hospital rounds and planning for discharge. Facilitate coordination and development of comprehensive and individual plans of care in collaboration with patient, family, and multidisciplinary team. Prepare written prescription orders, medications, and controlled substances under D.C. and federal rules, regulations, and law. Submit timely and complete patient bills. Receive inpatient referrals from primary care center and admit from emergency department. Maintain daily caseload of 10+ hospital inpatients. As part of team responsible for delivery of patient care, ensure quality of care provided by medical residents and nurse practitioners. Contribute to the achievement of department goals and adhere to policies, procedures, and quality and safety standards. Comply with government and accreditation regulations. Directly supervise, as needed, nurse practitioner working on a particular healthcare delivery team.
Requirements: MD degree or foreign equivalent plus three years of ABIM-recognized internal medical residency, valid D.C. medical license, and American Board certification (or eligibility) in Internal Medicine. Requires 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. shifts every other week with occasional weeks of night shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. We also have positions open on a PRN basis. Multiple openings.
