Position Summary:
General Summary of Position:As a hospitalist, provide inpatient medical care and consultation. Participate in call schedule. Perform complete medical history and physical exam on patients, and establish differential diagnoses. Facilitate coordination and development of a comprehensive and individual plan of care in collaboration with patient, family, and multidisciplinary team. Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesize data to determine primary diagnoses and therapeutic plan utilizing established medical principles. Prepare written prescription orders, medications, and controlled substances under the rules and regulations of the State of Maryland, as well as federal law. Coordinate patient and family education with nursing staff, ancillary staff, and other resources. Dictate patient information in appropriate format and following established guidelines. Maintain daily progress notes using established guidelines. Maintain daily progress notes using established guidelines. Submit complete patient bills within established time frame. Participate in medical staff quality improvement and review activities.

Education: Requires MD degree or foreign equivalent in medicine plus completion of three (3) years of ABIM-recognized internal medicine residency program.
