Monday through Friday
Baltimore, MD
Position Summary:
MedStar Medical Group offers a rewarding career with a unique patient population in the heart of Baltimore, MD. Become part of an organization that welcomes your experience, input, and leadership—as a clinician and healthcare expert.
We are looking for an ACNP or PA to join our growing heart failure team at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. The team is composed of five advanced heart failure physicians and will grow to have five APPs. This provider will NEED LVAD experience as that is a major part of the role. As this opportunity is inpatient, the provider will be rounding with physicians; conduct heart failure consults; work/teach about LVADs; and work with the overall staff, physicians, and patients to provide the best heart failure care.
Our surgeons have been implanting LVADs since 1988, and we were among the first four hospitals in the world to perform this surgery. Since then, we have pioneered the design of LVADs and novel surgical techniques for implanting them. Heart programs around the world consult the doctors in our Advanced Heart Failure Program for assistance and advice.
We currently care for more than 100 people with LVADs, many of whom have been living with this technology for many years. Our team includes experienced LVAD coordinators, dedicated pharmacists, physical therapists, nutritionists, and other advanced heart failure specialists.
The shifts for this role will be Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm. There will be no holidays, evenings, or weekends.
New grads are welcome to apply but will need to have LVAD experience.
We cannot accept family nurse practitioners for this role as it is inpatient. We can only accept acute care nurse practitioners or physician assistants.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education/Training: Graduate from an accredited physician assistant or acute care nurse practitioner program.
- Experience: This provider will need LVAD experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred.
