Neonatal Nurse Practitioner - Full Time Opportunity!

Baltimore, MD

Jumbotron break

Position Summary:

MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center is seeking a full-time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our level III, newly renovated, 23-bed, single-room Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

We are an interprofessional team with the goal of providing quality and empathetic care to our premature and sick newborns and their families. We have partnered for over 10 years with the March of Dimes, implementing the only fully staffed MoD NICU Family Support program in Maryland. We strive to use innovative and evidence-based approaches to healthcare delivery, and we benchmark our outcomes with the Vermont Oxford Network database. The nurse practitioner is pivotal in developing these programs, as well as the daily healthcare plan with the neonatologist, nursing, social services, and families. Some examples of QI initiatives are Golden Hour, infant-driven feeding, bereavement, transport program, neonatal abstinence bundle, and PICL insertion and maintenance bundles.

Our staffing goal is to expand to include six full-time nurse practitioners (one position may be shared), in addition to four full-time neonatologists to allow for flexibility for leave, vacation, and off-service time to develop and implement quality improvement projects. A full-time schedule includes 36 hours a week, typically three (3) 12-hour shifts (other options may be considered). Schedule can include all night shifts if preferred, or a combination of night shift and day/evening shifts. Weekend and holiday shift requirements are shared fairly among the group.

In addition to providing medical care in the NICU, nurse practitioners attend high-risk deliveries, independently perform neonatal resuscitation, and stabilize and initiate management of premature and/or ill newborns, including initial intubation, ventilation, and insertion of umbilical lines.

If you can see yourself as part of our team, consider spending a share day with us to see how we work and experience our unit. Please also inquire about our RN to NNP program for succession planning.

As a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at MedStar Franklin Square, you can expect:
  • A competitive pay rate according to experience with shift differential
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid malpractice insurance
  • Generous paid time off
  • CME allowance
  • Retirement plan – 403-B with % employer match
  • Sign-on bonus
  • Relocation assistance, if needed

Qualifications:
Graduation from a nurse practitioner program approved by the Maryland State Board Examiners of Nurses; two years of NICU nursing experience but Neonatal NP experience preferred; and registration with the Maryland State Board Examiners of Nurses.
