Located in Baltimore City, MedStar Union Memorial Hospital is a 223-bed, acute care teaching hospital with a strong emphasis on cardiac care, orthopedics, and sports medicine.

Position Summary:
A professional nurse with advanced knowledge and assessment skills in a specialty area of pain and palliative medicine. Duties will be performed to assist families with navigating the healthcare system, to foster seamless rather than fragmented care, and to maximize quality of life for the patient and their family. Demonstrates the role functions of advanced clinician, consultant, educator, researcher, and leader/change agent. Also responds to individual, professional, and societal needs related to the experience of serious or life-threatening illness through the nursing process.

  • Education: Master's degree from an accredited nursing school required. Graduation from a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Maryland State Board Examiners of Nurses.
  • Experience: Two years of experience in palliative care and/or pain management preferred.
  • License/Certification/Registration: Current Maryland or D.C. RN license and certified in Maryland or D.C. as an advanced practice nurse. Current BLS and ACLS required.
  • Skills: Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred.
