Physician Executive Director of Urologic Services – MedStar Health

MedStar Health, in collaboration with Georgetown University School of Medicine, is currently accepting applications of interest for the position of Physician Executive Director of Urologic Services, Washington Region. This position, with a primary location at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, will oversee urologic clinical services and graduate education for the Washington Region of MedStar Health that includes five hospitals serving the areas of Washington, D.C., including the suburbs of Maryland and Virginia and the Southern Maryland Peninsula. Qualified candidates suitable for an academic leadership position will also be considered to serve as the Academic Chair for the Department of Urology at the Georgetown University School of Medicine.

We are seeking an experienced and accomplished clinician and manager who will provide leadership in all areas of the service line, including:
  • Delivering clinical excellence for urologic services by ensuring the highest quality of safety and experience of care provided to all patients served.
  • Implementing the overall regional strategic plan for Urologic Services, Washington Region.
  • Providing oversight of all employment, credentialing, professional practice evaluations, and competencies of all employed urologists, advanced practice providers, and clinical support staff.  Recruiting and retaining world-class providers of care.
  • Ensuring optimal resource allocation and financial strength of Urologic Services.
  • Promoting educational excellence with graduate medical education pertaining to Urologic Services in the Washington Region.

The responsibilities as Academic Chair include providing oversight of undergraduate medical education in Urology with a special focus on clinical research training for medical students and actively developing and overseeing opportunities for Georgetown University-based interdisciplinary, translational, and clinical research.

Candidates should have a record of accomplishment as a leader, experience in an academic medical center, and excellent leadership, managerial, and communication skills. Candidates must have an MD or DO; have completed an accredited U.S. residency training program; be certified by the American Board of Urology; and be eligible for D.C., Maryland, and Virginia licensure. The academic rank for a faculty appointment at Georgetown University's School of Medicine will be commensurate with the applicant's credentials.
