We are looking for a psychiatrist to join the MedStar Family Choice-District of Columbia (MFC-DC) team, our Medicaid managed care organization, as the health plan Behavioral Health Medical Director. In this position, your strong leadership skills and commitment to our team approach will facilitate excellent behavioral health and whole-person care for our District of Columbia residents. Your experience in health plan clinical and quality operations, utilization management, case management, quality improvement, grievances/appeals, and network management will build our integrated care models and value-based payment integration of medical and behavioral health services. The Behavioral Health Medical Director will work closely with the Senior Medical Director (Chief Medical Officer). Your knowledge of health records and the health information technology used by behavioral health providers, medical providers, and hospitals across the District will be essential to providing decisions in psychopharmacology and service-related support needs. The Behavioral Health Medical Director will articulate clear and effective consultation and advice skills with other community MedStar Family Choice-District of Columbia providers. This is a high-profile leadership position and it is important the Behavioral Health Medical Director establish positive relationships with the medical community and other stakeholders while supporting the mission, vision, and values of MedStar Family Choice-District of Columbia. The transactional responsibilities include daily review of current inpatients, precertification requests, pharmacy requests, review of emergency department visits, review of appeals, and consultations with nurse case managers and other associates to ensure the daily operations of the plan.

Qualified candidates must be board-certified in psychiatry and licensed in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
