Position Summary:

Pulmonary Hypertension Specialist – MedStar Health

The MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute is seeking an experienced cardiologist to join the Department of Cardiology as the Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension program. This position is an exciting opportunity to lead a mature, busy PH program into its next phase of development and growth. The Program Director will provide oversight and strategic direction for the clinical, research, and educational activities of the PH program. The candidate will be responsible for leading the pulmonary hypertension team in the provision of care and for overseeing the expansion and growth of the program. The successful director will be a collaborative academic leader able to work well with internal and external colleagues.

The MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute is widely recognized as a leader in the delivery of cardiovascular care with highly respected and high-volume programs in advanced heart failure/transplant, interventional cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, cardiovascular imaging, and cardiac surgery. The MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute Pulmonary Hypertension program receives referrals from a well-established and expanding network of referring providers both within and outside of the MedStar network. The program is staffed by an experienced nurse navigator and nurse practitioner who assist in coordinating and providing both inpatient and outpatient care for pulmonary hypertension patients. The MedStar Washington Hospital Center and the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital have established protocols and trained staff who are experienced in the management of all pulmonary hypertension therapies, including parenteral prostacyclins, as well as referral relationships with regional centers that offer CTEPH surgeries and lung transplantation. Support for research activity is provided by the MedStar Health Research Network.
