The Department of Pediatrics at MedStar Health and the Georgetown University School of Medicine are seeking a System Chief for its Division of Neonatology. The candidate, who must be board-certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, should be committed to developing a program of excellence in clinical care, research, and education. A strong academic background with an outstanding record of achievement in clinical education is highly desirable. Candidates must show evidence of leadership with strong administrative and interpersonal skills.

The MedStar Health Neonatology Service line oversees almost 15,000 deliveries per year. The Level IV NICU at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (35 beds) cares for babies with medical and/or surgical needs, including common problems associated with prematurity, persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn, severe chronic lung disease, liver and intestinal failure, and a broad array of congenital anomalies. Neonatal ECMO support is an integral part of our care for the most critically ill infants. Other non-surgical Level III NICUs are located at MedStar Washington Hospital Center (33 beds) and MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center (23 beds). MedStar Health also operates Level II units at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, MedStar Montgomery Medical Center, and MedStar Harbor Hospital, as well as a Level I nursery at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital.

As the Chief for Neonatal Services and Neonatology, the individual will be responsible for overseeing the planning and directing of clinical operations and the development of neonatal services and neonatology at MedStar Health. Additionally, the Chief will ensure that medical education initiatives are designed and implemented where appropriate. The Chief will ensure these activities are carried out according to the hospital(s), MedStar Medical Group (MMG), and MedStar Health policies and standards.
